135th Annual Convention (2027)

Annual Convention is a pivotal forum where clergy and lay delegates convene to worship, learn, and vote on impactful matters shaping our diocese. This event, beyond its formalities, cultivates a friendly atmosphere for meaningful connections.

 

With a distinguished keynote speaker contributing insights, and various diocesan groups presenting reports and offering valuable updates on their activities, Annual Convention blends meaningful discussion, camaraderie, and shared vision, making it a cherished event for our diocese.

135th Annual Convention

February 5-6, 2027

DoubleTree Hotel – Williamsburg, Virginia

The 135th Annual Convention will begin with the Convention Reception, Friday evening, February 5, 2027, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in Williamsburg.

The business of the 135th Annual Convention will take place at the DoubleTree on Saturday, February 6, 2027, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Elections at Annual Convention

Nominations for elections at Annual Convention are now open! Nominees are sought for the following positions:

  • Standing Committee – 1 clergy & 1 lay
  • Disciplinary Board – 1 clergy & 2 lay
  • Alternates to the 82nd General Convention of The Episcopal Church (2027) – 4 clergy & 4 lay (Note: Deputies were elected at Diocesan Annual Convention in 2026)
  • Provincial Synod – no election in 2027

The deadline for nominations is Dec. 8, 2026.

The deadline to submit resolutions for consideration at Annual Convention is also Dec. 8, 2026. Resolutions should be submitted to sallen@diosova.org.

Registration

Registration to attend the 135th Annual Convention will open December 1, 2026.

Those who are planning to stay at the convention hotel on Friday night can book their room here: DoubleTree Williamsburg.

Registration will close January 22, 2027. Registration fees will be refunded for cancellations received before January 30, 2027.

Please be aware that submitting the Certificate of Lay Delegates and Alternates to the diocese does not register the delegates or alternates to attend Annual Convention.

Scholarship funds are available to assist delegates to Annual Convention with registration fees. In most cases the following standard will be applied to scholarship requests: delegate’s congregation contributes 60% of the cost and the diocese contributes 40% of the cost. Exhibitors

We will have a very limited number of tables available at Annual Convention for vendors and exhibitors. Contact Susan Allen, sallen@diosova.org, after November 1, 2026, for more information.

Volunteers for Annual Convention

Volunteers will be needed to help with delegate check-in and seating at Annual Convention on Saturday, February 6, 2027, from 7:30–10:00 a.m. If you are available for all or part of this time and would like to help, please contact Leah Sicignano, lsicignano@diosova.org, after January 1, 2027.

Coffee and breakfast will be provided for our Annual Convention volunteers.

Convocation Meetings

Pre-Convention Convocation meetings will take place January 24–31, 2027. Keep an eye on Tidings and this page for the date and time for your Convocation’s meeting.

Certificate of Lay Delegates & Alternates for 2027

These certificates are due each year by October 1. Instructions and the certificate form can be found here.

If the members of your congregation’s delegation change you must submit a new certificate to the diocesan office.

Please be aware that submitting the Certificate of Lay Delegates and Alternates to the diocese does not register the delegates or alternates to attend Annual Convention.

2025 Parochial Report

Reports were due by March 1, 2026. If your congregation has not yet submitted its 2025 Parochial Report, mail or email it to the Diocesan office as soon as possible. 

If your 2025 Parochial Report is not submitted your congregation’s delegates will not be allowed to vote at Annual Convention (Diocesan Canon XVIII, Section 2).

The Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia reserves the right to cancel any event. In the event of cancellation, registrants will receive a full refund. We also reserve the right to substitute event presenters and modify dates and programs.

The Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia serves the entire community and welcomes people with special needs.
