A Special Stewardship Committee was established by the Executive Board of the ECW of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia to handle the bequest from the estate of Mrs. Flora A. Penick,, a former President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. This fund consists of:

$50,000, which is invested with the Trustees of the Funds of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia. The interest from this investment is disbursed annually by the ECW Diocesan Board, using the following guidelines:

• The principal shall not fall below $50,000

• All of the interest shall be spent annually

• The intention of the donor will be kept in mind

• Single “onetime” gifts will be considered, as well as continuing annual gifts

• Giving outside the Diocese is encouraged

• The money will be used for people rather than “building funds”

•The benefit of the bequest will not be limited to women

The Special Stewardship Committee will meet annually to review suggestions for the disbursement of the annual interest from the fund. At the Fall Meeting of the ECW Diocesan Board, the Committee will recommend the disbursement of said interest for the Board’s approval. The Committee will receive requests for gifts from this fund.

All inquiries may be directed to the ECW President or to the Special Stewardship Chair. Requests for funds are due no later than July 1st.
