Interim Ministry

Interim Clergy are required to have training through the Interim Ministry Network.
If you serving as an interim pastor in the Diocese of Southern Virginia you are a part of a network known as the Interim Pastors and Consultants.  This group provides a venue for Interim clergy to discuss problems and concerns as well as sharing joys and progress as a parish looks forward in their life as  a community and towards calling a new rector.

The under girding of the IPC is an understanding of confidentially in order that difficult or problematic situations may be discussed openly and honestly in a mutually supportive environment. The IPC enables clergy to reflect with colleagues on the often tumultuous dynamics encountered during the interim period. This is also a primary means of communicating with the diocesan staff as to progress of the search and how we may further support you.

Meetings are monthly and include continuing education, supervision, and a confidential venue for problem solving transitional challenges.

Interim Consultants, both lay and ordained, guide the search committee through their tasks enabling the Interim Pastor to focus on the pastoral care of the congregation.
